The Haystack Historical Society is located in a building that was once a one-room schoolhouse. Today the desks have been replaced with displays of historical artifacts. Many of these were commonly used every-day items such as household/farming implements, a loom, and potato harvesting equipment.
The Haystack Historical Society also keeps the history of the unusual story of Jim Cullen, who was the only person ever to be lynched in the state of Maine.
